Awesome, first post in the section. A little about the goal of the log. End goal is to make it (and win) the junior worlds next in 2011, short term goals are simpler- get stronger, set new pbs at British nationals. Im a 100kg junior lifter, all weights will be listed in kg + lbs but primarily in kg unless otherwise noted. all training is raw unless noted also. Will also make sure to post vids and suchlike to keep the juices flowing. Any questions or general abuse just go ahead and hit me with it

Low box squats bar x 2 60kg x 2 10reps (135lbs) 100kg x 2 5reps (225lbs) 140kg x 3 5reps (315lbs) titan briefs on 180kg x 1 3reps (405lbs) 202.5kg x 1 1rep (500-505lbs???)
Good mornings off pins 60kg x 1 10reps 100kg x 1 10 reps 120kg x 1 6 reps 140kg x 1 5 reps
Snatch grip stiff legged deadlifts 60kg x 1 10reps 100kg x 3 5reps
hanging leg raises 3 sets
was quite a good session, had a good nights sleep last night for a change ( I have a sleep disorder). The gym was rather busy tonight so had to play hunt the 20kg plate, which got old pretty fast. I'm feeling my technique improving week by week lately so thats a huuuge plus for me since Ive always 'muscled weights up' so finally combining it with decent technique has led to large PB's Weight after training was 107kg, little bit worried im not gonna make it back to the 100kg class but there ya go I'm not in this to look skinny Im here to get strong.

OK next installment
3rd Dec some shoulder stability work, rotator cuff etc
4th Dec Deadlifts rack pulls at pin hole 1 60kg x 2 x 10 (135lbs) 100kg x 2 x 10 (225lbs) 140kg x 2 x 5 (315lbs) 180kg x 1 x 5 (405lbs) 220kg x 1 x 2 (495lbs) 260kg x 1 x 1 (585lbs) 300kg x 1 x 1 (675lbs) Locked it out beautifully this was/is a huge pr for me but as i held it in the top position i felt it roll out of my hands, lowered it halfway down before it tore out of my hands tearing off a huuuge callus. This effectively stopped any further training for the evening.

Bench day today... felt rather energised this morning so trained at 06.30, probably wont be making this a habit
Bench bar x 2 x 10 60kg x 2 x 10 (135lbs) 100kg x2 x 5 (225lbs) 120kg x 1 x 5 (270lbs) 140kg x 3 x 3-5 (315lbs) Quite happy with the way this went, I've always struggled with my bench due to a torn rotator cuff and tricep from playing rugby a few years back. all this benching was done with a very wide grip btw
Close grip 60kg x 2 x 10 100kg x 3 x 5-6
Dumbell rollouts 20kg dumbells x 3 x 15
Was originally planning to do more but underestimated the amount of time i had before i had to leave for work, so had to miss out some assistance work. Gonna try and upload a vid of the 140kg for 5 set later

Lately due to the severe weather hitting the UK my training has been pretty crappy, only managed to train twice last week (ME bench, ME squat and deads) and havent trained yet this week...hopefully i can make it to the gym (and it hopefully will be open) at 6am tomorrow morning and get some serious work done

Okay Ladies and Gents, its been a while so I had better fill you in on whats been going on...shortly after christmas i slipped on a patch of ice and slipped two discs in my lower back, damaged four vertebra, twisted my spine slightly and that in turn nocked my pelvis out of posistion...needless to say the last few months havent been fun at all. Been unable to do anything but I've cleaned up the diet just to keep my weight from spiralling out of control, its been hard to watch my gains slowly slide away but I will get them back, there is no choice about it. I have decided to be the best at this sport and nothing will stop me. Was originally told surgery would be needed, i said no, went for a second opinion from chiropracter friend of mine (former lifter and pro rugby player) he said he could fix me enough to lift and actually improve my lifting but it would be a long and painfull process, basically it came down to having the surgery, loose movement and not be able to lift or man up with a bit of pain sacrifce for a few months of physio and hopefully be back at it again. Guess which one I chose. The purpose of this log has changed now from heading to the worlds to just making it back to the platform. Today was the first day I was allowed into the gym to train (still no squatting or compression exercises but its better than nothing) was very excited but made sure I was carefull. Here we go: Wall Squats few sets to warm up loosen up the hips Goblet squat woring up to a 30kg ettlebell for sets of 1o various hips stretches Natural GHR's 5 sets to failure Lying ham curls 5sets to fail Leg raises. Side bends, band crunches 3 sets of each to fail
As you can see Ive decided to focus on the things that will improve my technique so injuries can be avoided. Working on hip mobility so I can widen my stance, core strength, and everything in the posterior chain. There will be no weak link on my body and no stone will be left unturned. Some things have been out of my control lately and somethings will be holding me back for a while but I will deal with that by maing sure every facet of my life is perfectly focused. If anyone has any ideas or suggentions please please stick them in here no matter how small or inconsequential, everything helps/ Thanks guys Dave

OK, just got back from benching... went in to the gym with a huge positive mental attitude, was looking forward to doing something that probably wasn't going to ruin my back. felt a bit tender after yesterdays first session back but in a nice way Alright, started off with 15 minutes of lower body stretching and foam rolling so I felt less like a robot and more like a human with aposable limbs follwed by some rotator cuff warmups, been a while since i benched so I wanted to make sure they were warm. Bench time 60kg x 2 x 10 (135lbs) 80kg x1 x 10 (185lbs) 100kg x 1 x 6 (225lbs) 120kg x 1 x 1 (275lbs) added reverse blues 150kg x 1 x 3 (337) 190kg x 1 x 1 (427) 220kg x1 x failed (495) Everything felt slow and heavy, didnt have any 'snap' like I used to have, no tightness no nothing...looks like work needs to be done! gone from hitting 140kg for sets of 6-8 to struggling with 120kg, not nice but it WILL get better. After feeling like a wet noodle on the bench i moved over to floor DB presses worked up to 70lb dumbells for 3 sets to fail around 8 or so reps Dumbell butterflies 45lb dumbells for 3 sets to failure band extensions- 100reps despite the low numbers I'm still positive, just being in the gym at all is better than being at home doing nothing, if i want to improve I have to earn it...Im thinking it could have gone far worse! got another physio session tomorrow so gonna try and get some upper back work in before i get stretched to the point of not being able to move. Sometimes I'm glad my Dad never hugged me... ;D
