Can't say you didn't pause, or hold it at lockout. No doubt there. Great benching Mr. Luyando.

OK its been some time since I have updated anything so I m going to start with the Vegas run down.
Vegas in the MHP pit is always a blast. We rolled into town early thursday and the fun began. Met up with Al Caslow at the House of Hash for Lunch. Al may be a little guy but he knows good food places. We ate a huge ass lunch and then caught up with the MHP crew for an awesome steak dinner. My weight wasn't really an issue so I was able to enjoy my self and eat like a normal person.
Friday I weighed in early as aloud. Wieghed in at 271ish. Then headed to the MHP booth and hung out all day with Jeremy Hoornstra, Joe Mazza, Al Davis, the Hulk (can't remember his real name), Big Paul Anderson (Pro Wrestler) and his wife. Everyone was a blast to be around. Friday Mazza did an exhibition workout. FOr a little dude he handled some freaky weights. Warmed up to mid 400's raw and then threw a shirt on and worked upto 770 off a 2 brd like it was nothing. Saw tons of friends and met tons of fans. Roger Ryan, Mark Bell, Scott Hoss Cartright, Ed coan, Stan Efferding, and many others stopped by the booth. Went to dinner with the MHP crew and my training partner Pete and his wife at Mandalyn Bay buffet. We laughed and ate for hours. Saturday I ate clean and hung out at the MHP booth until it was meet time. the warm up room was good sized with plenty of equipment and benches. Got a little to crowded for my likings but all the warm ups felt great. Got to meet my Nutrition sponsor John Keifer and his beautiful girlfriend in person. Super guy and very knowledgealbe.
Warm ups - barx12x2 95x12 135x10 225x8 315x3 405x1 465x1 Platform - 1st attempt 804 3 whites 2nd attempt 848 3 whites all-time single ply world record 3rd attempt 881 gassed just shy of lock out no lift
I won the 275 class and best bencher of the meet. Steve Dennison runs a great meet. Judging was spot on entire meet. i got to meet his wife Shelly what a sweetheart.
Spent the rest of the day at the MHP booth and hung out with Ed Coan for a while. He is now aa Power Pack Pudding addict.
Thats all for now will try to catch up on the Russia trip and meet tommorow. I am dragging ass right now.

Russia run down.
Paul Key, My wife and i left my house on last Monday morning at 5:00 AM. Drove into Chicago Ohare and checked out luggage in and then sat around the airport until it was time to fly out to JFK in New York. First flight wasn't to bad. after arriving in New your we had a 2 1/2 hr lay over so we got some grub and exchange our cash at the currency exchange. Jeremy Hoornstra landed in New York just in time to catch the flight to Moscow with us. The flight from New York to Moscow was long we got two meals fit for a toddler. The flight was 10 hrs long and not made for someone my size. We were all exhaused and had a 8 hr layover to look forward to. After getting our luggage we had to take a $60.00 cab ride from our terminal to the next terminal to catch our next flight. nothing like grabbing your ankles with a warm welcome to Russia. the terminal we had to wait in was cold and the chairs were uncomfortable as they could get. Hoornstra and I ended up sleeping on the floor. Hoornstra was awaken by airport security putting the boots to him telling him to get up and not to sleep on the floor. Another 3 hrs flight from Moscow to Ekaterinburg. We got our luggage and were met by the Russians. They drove us like mad men to a apartment where they tossed our luggage and left us. We had no phone or wifi. We were starving so we locked my wife in the dirty apartment and walked a few blocks to a McDonalds. It was about 2:00 AM and only the drive up window was open. Ordering was a trick with the language barrier. After getting our food we walked back to the apratment and ate the nastiest hamburgers ever. the apartment had two small bedrooms one had two little doll house size beds and the other had a l shaped love couch witha pull out toddler bed. Hoornstra and key slept on the small beds and my wife and I slept on the couch. I slept on the toddler bed. Day 1 wasn't off to a good start.
Wednesday we all got up early and showered. We locked my wife in the apartement and walked to McDonalds ang got breakfast. Breakfast food was a lot better then the burgers. Thank god for MHP's Power Pack Pudding! Using my wife's I-pad and google voice I called my Russian contact and told him about our first night exsperience. He wasn't happy because the deal was that were were supose to be staying in a hotel with wifi and phone access. He made some calls and within an hour we were moved from the dirty apartment to a nice clean hotel. We dumped out stuff off and headed to the meet venue. We hung out at the meet venue till 9:00 PM and then headed back to our hotel. The Hotel restaurant was awesome. We each ate a few meals and then called it a night.
There were 1200 lifters competing and they started lifting on Monday and continued lifting every day and finished up on sunday. Saw a lot of crazy lifting raw and shirted. Saw some of the craziest arches by some of the Russian woman.
We met up with Gene Ryachek and his wife at the meet site. We spent the day signing autographs and taking pictures with the lifters and spectators. We took part in a live TV Press confrence that aired on the Russian National tv. Apparently the Russians thought we were Stars in their Country. The treatment we received was unreal. Was pretty cool to feel apreciated unlike how American powerlifters are treated in America.
Thursday we spent the day at the meet site and took part in a few TV interviews and signed autograpghs and took pictures all day. Joe Mazza and his buddy Dave arrived at the meet venueat during one of the times we got blasted with pictures. Wich wasn't always bad becuase the Russian ladies all looked like super models.
Friday morning Paul Key, Joe Mazza and I walked over to the meet site early so we could weigh in. We were all a lot lighter then planned. Food and travel was hard on keeping the wieght up. We stopped at a little grovery store on the way back to the hotel. Pigged out at breakfast and then ate every two hrs. Gott my body weight up a few lbs. Jeremy Hoornstra competed in the Pro Raw Division. I handed off for him. Which was pretty cool cause Jeremy is a freak. He opened with 561 and smoked it. jumped to 601 on his 2nd attempt and hit a wall 1/2 way up. Repeated on 3rd with same results. Not sure what went wrong. Saw a 11 year old Russian girl bench 161 lbs raw at a 103 lb body weight. She was impressive and a Russian Super Star. We saw her on the Russian new channel several times throughout the week.
Sat we ate and headed over to the meet sight about noon. Mazza competed at 1:00 PM. The warm up room was crowded. Tons of spectators and lifters watching us warm up Mazza. Mazza opened up with 661 competing as a light 181er. Pretty much a smoke show 3 whites. He jumped upto 694 on 2nd attempt and couldn't quite lock out his right arm. We decided to bump the weight up to 716 cause he was having issues touching. He blacked out while pressing the weight. Gene Ryachek talked him into taking a shot at the all time world record on a 4th attempt. We loaded the bar to 755 wich he seemed to control effortlessly right until he blacked out again? Mazza ended up winning the 181 class with ease. He was 40 lbs ahead of everyone else with his opener.
Paul Key, Gene Ryachek and I weren't schedule to lift until 7:00 PM so we decided to head back to the hotel to sleep for a while.Warm ups felt great. I decided to open in a single ply shirt to play it safe. Opened at 838. I jumped the gun on the press call on my 1st attempt so I repeated the weight on my 2nd attempt and got 3 white lights. Switched shirts and jumped to 921 on my 3rd attempt. Touched easy and blew the weight of my chest and my left arm stalled just shy of lockout. I tried to grind through it but they took the weight before I could get the job done. I was gassed. A russian lifter hit 838 on his 3rd attempt and weighed 1 lbs less them me so I ended up taking 2nd place. Doesn't sit very well with me but it is what it is. Honestly I was happy to get a lift in.the travel was hell and the time change fukked with my sleep schedule. I was lucky to get 3 hrs of sleep a night. the food was diferrent and took me way off my nutrition plan. I will go head to head with the Russian in March at the Lexen Coalition meet and the out come will be diferent. No more being conservative just going to do my thing.
Gene Ryacheck also lifted. a year ago to the day we competed he had a heart attack. His Dr's told him he would never lift heavy again. Gene decided t start training and wanted to compete one last time. He was a guest lifter. He opened with 661 for an easy opener. Jumped to 705 on a 2nd for another easy lift. His third he smoked 755 for three 2hite lights. He took his bench shirt off and layed it on the bench and annouced to the crowd that he was officially retired from the sport. He was treated like a well deserved king. It was an honor to compete on the same platform with Big gene. This guy paved the way for lifters to follow for years to come.
Paul Key had a ruff day and couldn't get a lift in but was still treated like a super star. His pure mass was a hit with all the Russian people and the ladies really took a liking to him.
THe awards ceremony was pretty cool on stage infront of a full house. Joe Mazza took 1st place in the 181 class Open and Master and took 3rd place over all. Jeremy Hoornstra took 1st Place in the Raw 242 class and 3rd place over all. I took 2nd place in the open 1st place in masters and 2nd place over all.
After the awards ceremony we took part in drinking way to much Russian Vodka. The stories we can tell........ All in all it was a awesome exsperience despite my lack of performance. Going to take a week or two off and then I will pick my next venture and start to train again. going to change some things up with my training. I have been plenty strong enought to bench 1000 plus time to stop fukking around and just do it.
Special thanks to my sponsors MHP, Overkill Strength Equipment, Dangerously Hardcore, Rhino Power Gear, and Damb Silly Slippers for all of there continuos support.

First day back in the gym after a full two weeks off. Drove upto Overkill Power Pit and did a MHP Demo then trained with Gym full of freaks. Jose Garcia, Noel Lavaro, Jason Patrick, Pete Arroyo, The Barzeen, Rudy "Overkill" Rosales, Jeff Johnson, Darrylin Doddy (the next freak), Joe Smiloski(spelling), Roger "Pops" Ryan, Curtis Radake, Jerry Fults, Polish Stanley, Dave Murphy, and a hand full of others but there names escape me.
Bench - barx12x2 95x12x2 135x10 225x8 315x5 405x1 455x1 505x1 add Ram 555x1 add shirt 650x1 750x1 825x1 900x1 1005 negative.
Didin't get in any extra work today becuase of the number of people we had training on one bench. Plus Jason Patrick carried in three extra large Pizza's wich we devowered. Funny how two weeks away from training make your CNS scream. every set had my joints screaming. I will try to post some video footage later tonight.
